The Zoltan toolkit provides dynamic load balancing, partitioning, data migration, graph coloring, and graph ordering to dynamic, unstructured, and/or adaptive applications. Zoltan is currently used in a wide variety of applications, including mesh-based PDE simulations, crash and contact detection, particle simulations, linear solvers and preconditioners, and electrical network simulations. Zoltan has been used in production environments on platforms ranging from small clusters to leadership-class computing platforms. Some examples of Zoltan's use in large-scale simulations are shown in the table.
